Macomb County Community Mental Health Serves More Than 19,000 Residents in 2025, Highlighting Growing Community Impact:

2025 Impact Report reflects increased accessibility of mental health and substance care 

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Sept. 3, 2026) – Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) released its 2025 Impact Report today. Over the past year, the organization significantly expanded its service offerings and improved access to vital mental health and substance use support.  

“We have continued to enhance our care models, invest in staff development, and prioritize equity in everything we do,” said Traci Smith, CEO at MCCMH. “Whether through expanded outreach, improved service navigation, or deeper community collaboration, our focus remains on delivering care that is responsive, inclusive, and person-centered.” 

MCCMH expanded its Mobile Crisis Team to provide round-the-clock support in 2025, ensuring community-oriented crisis intervention was available 24/7/365. Upon responding, the Mobile Crisis Team stabilized 96% of youth and 86% of adults experiencing a reported crisis. This approach allows those in need to access immediate person-centered services where they are, conserving community resources and preventing unnecessary ER visits or hospitalizations.  

In 2025, MCCMH’s Managed Care Operations team processed 5,439 prescreening requests for inpatient psychiatric care, with 98% completed within three hours or less – well above the state requirement of 95%. Through comprehensive screening and care coordination, 45% of individuals were connected to appropriate community-based services rather than hospitalization. This allows community members to receive the right care in the least restrictive setting while accessing local support. 

The opening of a new Substance Use Engagement Center in Sterling Heights marked a significant milestone for MCCMH in 2025. The Center provides 24/7 peer-led, short-term crisis intervention for individuals facing substance-related crises, where they can stabilize, attend to basic hygiene, access food, and connect with resources to kick start their recovery journey. 

Additional highlights from the report include: 

• 19,086 Macomb County residents served 
• A 10% increase in the volume of calls answered by the MCCMH 24/7 Crisis Line, with an average triage response time of 17 seconds – half as long as the national average 
• All MCCMH clinics saw increases in the number of individuals served, with a notable 37% increase at MCCMH East in St. Clair Shores  
• A 60% increase in behavioral health referrals from medical facilities 
• A 20% increase in the number of individuals served through its Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic since 2021 
• 2,167 individuals supported by Peer Recovery Coaches in ERs 
• 64,233 individuals reached through substance use prevention programming 
• A 63% increase in the number of intakes for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) 
• Over 10,000 individuals reached through community outreach efforts
