Medicaid typically does not pay for housing costs for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities. However, Medicaid does provide for Personal Care in Specialized Residential Settings. This is care provided on a 24 hr. basis, in a community residence, for individuals who require such care. Personal Care in Specialized Residential Settings assists an adult with mental illness or developmental disabilities with activities of daily living, self-care and basic needs, while they are living in a specialized residential setting in the community.
MCCMH offers other supports and services to help adults with mental illness or developmental disabilities live successfully in their own homes. Call the Access Center or talk to your Case Manager or Supports Coordinator to learn more.
